Nova Chan is a graduate of fine arts at East Stroudsburg University and has studied, as well as taught at Peter's Valley Craft Center located in Layton, NJ.
Nova is a mixed media artist specializing in painting, ceramics, woodcuts, fine metals, lampworking, jewelry, sculptures, mosaics, and interior design. She also concentrates on Encaustic painting, the ancient art form of painting with wax and pigment on wood.
Nova's work can be described as contemporary, abstract and full of color texture and emotion. It is powerful and enticing as each piece holds layers and layers of multi-medium techniques, giving the art work the sense of uniqueness in its undertones. Her art holds audacious yet subtle abstract themes, with lots of bold movements. The viewer can interpret these movements and detailed layers as the many layers we all consist of.
Nova has had a number of solo shows, while she has also exhibited her artwork with other artists throughout the Philadelphia and Monroe County regions. She generates individualized commission artwork for both private and commercial settings. Her most recognized work by Stroudsburg locals would be her outside mosaic work on the four pillars of "Mollies Restaurant" on Main Street. In addition she teaches a range of individual mixed media classes in her studio in Stroudsburg and Manayunk, Philadelphia. She also offers private or group classes in Therapeutic Art Services at the "Main Street Counseling Center" located at the Dominic Lockwood Business Offices. More of her work can be seen on the walls of "Everybody's Cafe" in the "Bohemian Room" also located on Main Street in Stroudsburg.
