The Day Nova Gained Celebrity Status

Nova became famous Mar 28th 2008 when this article appeared in Sharp Magazine, a weekly insert to the Pocono record.

"If you haven't seen her art yet, you will. She's all over downtown Stroudsburg.
From the mosaic pillars in front of Mollie's Restaurant on Main Street to the artwork in the "Bohemian Room" at Everybody's CafĂ© and Caterers, Nova Chan is literally painting the town red — and blue, and yellow, and hundreds of other colors."
It also included some great pics. Hit the link below for the full article.

the article was soon followed by an appearance on ESU radio with the good Doc Paul Boggia I believe. it was basically a sit in with Nova Chan and her take on life, art, therapy, food, and the family business. It also included a lot of giggling. Although I'm sure most found the giggling adorable it was later explained to me that it was mostly a nervous reaction to being put on the spot. Great Radio just happens that way. you cant plan these things.

In any event the article and the radio spot were great exposure and proof once again in my mind that Nova the artist and her work are ready for a much wider audience

Nova Chan the complete Bio

Nova Chan is a graduate of fine arts at East Stroudsburg University and has studied, as well as taught at Peter's Valley Craft Center located in Layton, NJ.

Nova is a mixed media artist specializing in painting, ceramics, woodcuts, fine metals, lampworking, jewelry, sculptures, mosaics, and interior design. She also concentrates on Encaustic painting, the ancient art form of painting with wax and pigment on wood.

Nova's work can be described as contemporary, abstract and full of color texture and emotion. It is powerful and enticing as each piece holds layers and layers of multi-medium techniques, giving the art work the sense of uniqueness in its undertones. Her art holds audacious yet subtle abstract themes, with lots of bold movements. The viewer can interpret these movements and detailed layers as the many layers we all consist of.

Nova has had a number of solo shows, while she has also exhibited her artwork with other artists throughout the Philadelphia and Monroe County regions. She generates individualized commission artwork for both private and commercial settings. Her most recognized work by Stroudsburg locals would be her outside mosaic work on the four pillars of "Mollies Restaurant" on Main Street. In addition she teaches a range of individual mixed media classes in her studio in Stroudsburg and Manayunk, Philadelphia. She also offers private or group classes in Therapeutic Art Services at the "Main Street Counseling Center" located at the Dominic Lockwood Business Offices. More of her work can be seen on the walls of "Everybody's Cafe" in the "Bohemian Room" also located on Main Street in Stroudsburg.
